Advanced Composites
Fall 2021 - PCE 472
Course Description: "Advanced polymer matrix and reinforcement systems; structural design and analysis; advanced composites processes and automated production systems." During this course, I teamed up with Bradley Lamb and Kole Carpenter to perform a laminate analysis and manufacture a SAMPE Bridge.
Advanced Characterization
Fall 2021 - PCE 471
Course Description: "Structure, properties, processing, and applications of engineering polymers. Advanced analysis and testing of polymers for engineering applications." During this course, I teamed up with Alec Newton to identify "Unknown Polymer B". Below is a link to our Final Presentation and Paper.
Electronics for Engineering
Fall 2021 - EE 351
Course Description: "Analysis of basic electric circuits. Design of simple circuits using passive elements and electronics to modify input signals and produce desired output signals. Analog-to-digital conversion and introductory microcontroller development." During this quarter, I teamed up with Kelsey Allis and Miriam Inaimi to create an automated robot arm using Ardunio. Below are some images of the robot arm.
Injection Molding
Spring 2021
Course Description: "Theory and practice of injection molding. Analysis of machine functions, processing parameters, production tooling, process control systems, quality assurance, automation, rheology of polymers, heat transfer. Extensive lab experience." During this quarter, I teamed up with Tanner Leo to investigate polylactic acid (PLA) and polymethyl pentene (PMP) in two separate injection molding labs. Below, you can find our Lab Report for qualifying PMP use with a Hinge Pyramid Mold. Also below is Tanner Leo's portfolio link to learn more about his work.
Intro to Engineering
Fall 2019 - ENGR 104
Course Description: "Introduces students to the field of engineering, the design process, and communication of ideas with graphics. Includes team design projects, drawing instruction and assignments, the role of CAD, introduction to the engineering disciplines, engineering history, ethics and case studies of engineering feats and failures, and how things are made." This quarter I teamed up with Claire Bentfield, Laim Grim, Inti MacDonald to create a microgeneration tool that harnesses the mechanical energy of rainfall to turn an LED light on. Below is our poster and some product images.
